Job Title: General Manager
Function: Overall managerial functions and responsibilities
Reporting To: Board Chairperson and the Board
Direct reports: Office staff including program staff and admin support staff
Duration: One year contract with possibility of extension
Salary: Negotiable
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Purpose of the Job:
Responsible for overall organizational and financial management, including managing day to day activities of the Center, project development and resource mobilization, designing and implementing educational and cultural activities and events in line with the objectives of the center, budgeting and monitoring of project expenditures; financial reporting and auditing; forecasting expenditures; and maintaining and supervising project accounts, books of accounts, banking and financial operations, and all programmatic and administrative work. The General Manager is also responsible to oversee the procurement, store management, and facilities management including the proper upkeeping of the newly renovated historic building which is under the care of the Center.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead the overall programmatic and administrative work and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual consolidated programmatic and financial statements.

Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with auditors, and assess any changes necessary.

Lead annual budgeting and planning process in consultation with the Board and Chairperson; administer all program and financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep the Board and Chairperson abreast of the Center’s financial status.

Implement a robust project development, resource mobilization, contracts management and financial management/ reporting system.

Design and implement all necessary institutional policies and accounting practices as approved by the Board.

Work closely and transparently with all external partners including State institutions, CSOs, private sector and international organizations.

Oversee both programmatic and administrative functions including procurement and facilities management.
Required Qualification and Experience
Education
First Degree in Social Sciences or related field. Candidates with lower educational qualification but with exceptional experience can be considered.
Experience
At least 8 years of demonstrated experience in program management, resource mobilization and project administration.
Experience or knowledge in arts or communication. Experience in management of people and resources.
Experience working with the arts and cultural community is desirable

Other Requirements
Computer literate.
Proficiency in Amharic and English is required.
Knowledge of other local or international languages is advantageous.
